I can’t wait to share this baby boy’s newborn session at eight weeks old with you! It wasn’t that long ago that this sweet boys Mom and Dad were here in my studio in Fairfield County, CT for their maternity session. We did some here in the studio and also at Sherwood Island at sunset. They were SO excited to meet their son, and now they are back with him in their arms.
Carter came into the studio wide awake and ready to show off his beautiful blue eyes for his newborn portraits. I don’t photograph “older” newborn sessions all that often, but when I do I am quickly reminded of just how sweet they can be. Babies at this age tend to be a little more alert and getting to document that early interaction with Mom and Dad is so precious.
First Family Portraits
Just as Mom was finishing hair and makeup and picking out her dress from the client wardrobe, Carter fell asleep and was ready for family portraits. Getting to photograph these two with their boy for the first time was so sweet. They snuggled him and really took it all in. Meanwhile, Carter was busy melting my heart with his squishy little face! And since he was a little older, Mom and Dad chose an outfit for him the client wardrobe instead of the traditional newborn swaddle.
We took photos of them as a family, individual photos of Mom and Dad with Carter and then came back together as a family once Carter woke up again. The very last photo I took of them is one of my absolute favorite images. Carter is wide awake and Mom and Dad are looking over him. You can feel their joy and just how much they love their sweet boy.
Over the next year, we’re going to document Carter grow, and I cannot wait. We’ve already started designing his first year album and will continue to add to it over the year. Then, in the years to come when he’s curious about his childhood and what he was like as a baby, Mom and Dad will be able to share his album with him.
