This summer family session at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport, CT was extra special to photograph. It was this baby girl’s first photoshoot and first as a family of four. Now, more than ever, I am meeting families that truly understand the value of family photography and having photos of their kids.
Because of the pandemic, many didn’t have the opportunity or didn’t feel comfortable doing newborn photos. So, in some ways, these sessions are not only about the milestone but also reflecting on this past year and how it’s changed your family. The truth is, it’s been a really hard year and although that may look different for each family, I think we can all agree that it’s really made us appreciate the simple things and hold tightly to those we love.
I’ve said this many times, but this year has also really shown me how important my job as a Westport family photographer is. 10, 20, 50+ years from now when memories fade, these photos that you have taken with your family will tell the stories. It will remind you of their little features and personality, the way they would look at you, and how you felt. You’ll not only be able to tell your children about their childhood but show them too.
None of this would be possible without the amazing families that have trusted me and shared their experiences with their friends and family. That’s what lead this beautiful family to me and I am so so grateful. Referring your friends and family to me is truly the greatest compliment. It helps my small business grow, but more importantly, ensures that more families have the opportunity to remember these fleeting years- they truly are the best!
