Having a 5 and 8-year old, I’ve been through all of the newborn and toddler phases. Each has come with moments I wish could relive over and over. But if there’s one “baby” stage my heart nearly aches to relive it would be this one.
There’s just something about having the front row seat to your baby discover the world. Seeing it through their eyes, slowing down to enjoy the simplest of things, and then seeing them light up by just the sight of you. It’s magical. Yes, it’s absolutely exhausting and the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but I’d do it again and again and again. And…I’d make sure I photographed all of it.
Sitter Milestone Session
The sitter milestone session is the second session in the first year collective. The focus is on the baby, but parents are welcome and I always recommend that at least Mom joins. It’s the perfect time for a mommy and me session and also gives your little one a little extra support if they need it.
There are a few traditional “sitter session” poses that we work through. Laying on their belly, playing with their feet, and of course, sitting up. We’ll do 2-3 looks for baby. One is usually a knit romper, another with just a diaper cover (so you can see all of the rolls!), and then if there is anything special you want for them. After that, it’s all you and your baby- we’ll document you playing and snuggling!
For this little guy, Mom and Dad brought a little lion romper and I have to say Hal was quite the handsome little fella! He was all smiles, wanted to eat the blanket, and loved to snuggle his mama. I can’t believe how much he’s grown since his newborn session, and already looking forward to his first birthday so I can see him again!
Adding to the Gallery Wall
We were able to take some of their favorites from this session and add to their gallery, which will be installed in their new home soon. This is something that we are able to work with clients on and keep in mind if you are in the process of moving or if you know you are not in your “forever home.” Wall galleries can be designed in a way where they can grow with you and work in different spaces.
