We all blinked and somehow Olivia is already celebrating her first birthday. It’s been so fun watching her grow from the time she was in her momma’s tummy (check out their beautiful Weed Beach maternity session) to her in-home newborn session, and now her first birthday! I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than with a first birthday cake smash at Waveny Park in New Canaan.
One of my favorite things to do after a first birthday session is to pull a newborn photo and put them side by side with the first year photo. It’s always a lot of fun to see how they have grown and changed over the year (and also a little bittersweet because time… it really does go SO fast).
Olivia loved to stick her tongue out at me, play airplane with Mom + Dad, and humored us all with the cake eating part of her first birthday session. I never know how babies will respond to the cake smash – some love it, some hate it, and some are just confused. Either way, it’s all pretty hilarious and so much fun to photograph.
