Photography is an art. I know in our modern world with the ability to take a photo at any second with the use of our phones, photography has lost some of its prestige as an art form. But all you have to do is take a look at one of my iphone photos and compare it to one of my professional photos to see that there is no question which is art and which is a snap.
As with any art, each artist has their own style driven by their creativity, their “eye”, their passion, and what makes their heart pound a little faster. I’ve been learning photography for 10 years now and it has taken me quite some time to develop a true style.
Most people assume that editing determines a photographer’s style, but that is false. The time of day, the location choice, the use of light, and the settings on your camera all factor in to create your artistic vision. Editing is simply an enhancer to the image you created with your camera.
Over the last 3 years, I’ve really come into my own style that is very true to me. I love a mix of classic and modern elements. I love for photos to look timeless, yet fresh and modern, so that 10, 20, 30 years from now you will still love them as much (and probably even more) than you do today. I like calmness and peacefulness in my images to keep the emphasis and focus on my clients and their emotions. I use simplicity in styling, lighting, and wardrobe to achieve that.
When we are planning your session, every element from location, to timing to wardrobe is very intentional to achieve my style and create beautiful art for your family.
